Lantern Tours.............Saturday-Tuesday

What happened in 1747, when the oil mill and the grist mill at the Ephrata Cloister went up in flames, taking not only the flour the 80 members needed for food, but 500 bushels of flax seed and the oil that made the ink they used for the Cloister's printing press? How would they survive? You can find out during the cloister's Lantern Tours, being held Saturday through Tuesday. The tours begin at 6 each night and leave the visitors center every half hour until 9 p.m. Visitors will become part of the story as they discover how the cloister members rose above the calamity.
