Actually, yes.

What would be the point in bringing in external examiners to grade students at all? The courses students take at the Academy don't transfer as credits to any high school or college curriculum. All of the students at the Academy take classes strictly for pleasure. Although they do gain valuable practice, knowledge, and life skills, they aren't actually working towards anything at all. The Academy does not offer graduation ceremonies, and to my knowledge, only the "Certificate" students get anything to show for their work. It seems to be that this is one fact that the Academy has not improved upon whatsoever. Yes, the Academy may bring in the most talented musicians Lancaster can attract, but all it's churning out is high-quality, overpriced private lessons.

Not quite true.

Having studied with these teachers gets you a foot in the door for auditions either to Conservatories or college music majors, and gets you a foot in the door for auditions for orchestra slots or performing parts.

Good point ceejay. But I still don't understand where grading comes into play. PAM does not issue grades or transcripts. If these kids are getting the opportunity to audition to Peabody or Mannes or Oberlin, then it's because someone at PAM wrote a really powerful recommendation.
