To the reporter who tried to impersonate an Amish woman and sneak into the funerals: May you someday soon have enough respect for others and common decency to burn with shame at such a disrespectful, greedy, tacky stunt.

When the media finally leaves town, Remel said, “We will try to get back to normal, but we need to realize what once was normal will never be again.’’

“The community needs to decide whether to draw together or withdraw from one another,.” he said. “My hope and prayer is that the community will draw together.’’

Amen, Mr. Remel, amen. Let the circle be unbroken.

One member of the media apparently tried to sneak into the private funerals, state police said, by dressing as an Amish woman.

I'm inclined to believe that "reporter" was not a local. Perhaps was a reporter from another country and in their ignorance didn't realize their indiscretion. Hah, who am I kidding, it was a sleaze ball trying to make a name, which they did. Creep, for one.
On another note; Why do the newspapers feel the need to reiterate,in minute detail, the horrific events that have occurred, EVERY TIME they print a related story? It's ENOUGH that it has been reported on, again and again. It's high time to let it rest. Give the Amish the privacy they desire, especially the families who have lost their daughters.

To the media I would say;The Amish wish to be left alone, to mourn in their own way, in their own time. Have some respect!

I found the only reporter sensitive and respectful to the Amish was Anne Currey of the Today Show. {*}

Anne has played second fiddle for a very long time but she is tops as a human being in my book. If a national network felt the need to send someone to Lancaster County to interview this tragedy I am glad it was Anne. [I am sorry Anne if I have not spelled your name correctly.]

{*}I was not in the state and learned of this tragedy on news local to where I was at the time and on national news coverage.
Then I turned on my laptop and read local news. LNP seemed factual in most articles. For such a terrible topic LNP needs to send out seasoned reporters who very carefully choose their words. Just a thought. This should not be a topic even remotely suggested for a writing award. That would be tackey.

Mike Gallagher is the guy that gave up an hour of his show instead of allowing the nuts come to PA. Thank you.

As someone who lives right where this occurred I must tell you the Lancaster Newspaper people in general have been okay but not as accurate as you'd think. As for aggressive--they have been an embarassment. To say this has been a nightmare is an understatement. Between seeing a local pastor on CNN blabbing about how Marie was his church at a women's prayer group that morning, to one of my scumbag neighbors who sold a place to stay to a reporter so they could get a clear shot of the funerals, it has been unbelievable.
But it has been unbelievably uplifting too. Hundreds of firefighters and emergency personnel from atound the county giving selflessly. The community banding together to support and help one another. The State Police working relentlessly as they try to keep this private. It has made me proud to live here.
