I'm nowhere around there but for the sake of all those involved, I hope the media is cleared out too, I hate what they put ALL of you through.

I think it's funny how they tried to dress the part to sneak in, but as anyone who has lived in the area long enough to meet a few Amish and Mennonite neighbors can tell you, they have unique accents, far different from other local folk and vastly different than any other area of the nation. I think even a native German speaker who's learned English couldn't pull it off.

Now seriously, I know it's news and all, but c'mon people, don't we have any decency or respect for those in mourning? We don't invade the funerals of notorious bank robbers or serial killers, why disturb the families of innoncent victims?

Perhaps you didn't but, some of our local news media did infringe on the Amish, for an example knocking on doors of the Amish putting their mic in the door, taking pictures ( of faces) while in funeral procession.
The woman who lied about being Amish to get a better picture, or story should have been fined. I know you all have the "right" to report the story.. but people also have the right to grieve without news people taking pictures.
How would you feel if these were your daughters?

Unlike those of you who have posted on here, I am a member of the media (Pa-based) and we did *nothing* to imfringe on the rights of any Amish -- please don't paint all of us with the same brush -- we respected the rights of the community and the families who lost their loved ones in such a horrific and tragic manner. Yes, we have a job to do, but there are ways to do it, without going to such lengths, as cited in this story.

If I didn't already have enough contempt for the media, local media included, this story pushed me over the edge. What a disgraceful display! The media thinks they are entitled to do what ever it takes to get a story - I don't agree.

First of all, Tincan, I *do* have children, and one of them is a daughter, and she was the first one I thought of when this story came out...but that's a recurring thought everytime we have a tragedy that affects our children in this country. Second of all, as I stated previously, I do *NOT* condone the actions of those "reporters" cited in the article, whether they were local or national. I think their actions are shameless and inexcusable. And again, time and time again, our organization has been able to do our jobs without infringing on the lives or the pain of those involved in tragedies. I can't speak for other media outlets, nor would I want to. However, I have covered enough national stories to be ashamed of what lengths some of them go to to get "the story." I certainly will never be one of them, and I do not aspire to be like them.

Thank you for being a repectful reporter. I know you have a job to do and it's great that you can do it without being disrespectful to the people you are covering, just wish others could do the same.
