QUOTE
(from the article): Sturla, who said he gave the money to charity, wants to move on.

"I think they have sent their message," he said of angry voters. "I don't have a pay raise. I've been humbled. Now, let me go do my job."
Sure, let's forget about it and just move on.

If someone stole the money from a bank and got caught, would we allow them a pass? It's no different. Sturla's punishment should be at the polls. Unless local Democrats feel he does his job so well he should be allowed another opportunity to steal.

P. Michael your attitude is certainly not helping your cause. One can practically see your eyes roll and hear your sigh/huff as they read this. This really is the one that didn't go away, isn't it? Didn't believe us back then, huh? Should be interesting!

To add insult to injury, Sturla has called SDoL board members "drunken sailors" and "crack addicts" AT THE SAME TIME he has refused to push for more State funding. This has resulted in Lancaster City schools receiving less of their funding from the State that most other school districts in PA, greatly increasing the burden on local taxpayers.

Sturla told the school board that if PSP wasn't granted the tax abatement they were demanding, the SDoL wouldn't see any additional State money for 10 years. It looks like Sturla is making good on his threat.

Over the last six years, Sturla has worked much harder to get funding for the proposed hotel/cc project than he has worked to get funding for local schools. For ANY elected official of ANY political persuasion to put funding for a special-interest project ABOVE the education of our children and grandchildren is unconscionable.

We can thank Sturla for amending House Bill 983. This bill amends Act 23 allowing the city to be responsible for the payment of school and property taxes for the luxury Marriott Hotel for the next 20 years.

When PSP cannot "donate" the promised $200K for those taxes Lancaster City homeowners will be picking up that bill.
