More than you know. How many meetings have you been to lately? How many phone calls, letters, and emails have you made? I don't need to brag about the things I do. My conscience is clean. How about yours?

Besides, NONE of this has anything to do with the situation in Iraq. Or with anywhere else in the world, for that matter.

To take your reasoning to its logical conclusion, the only rational explanation would be for the US to abandon its overseas military exploits until and unless the situation is cleaned up INSIDE the US: no more abortions, no more executions, no more murders, no more poor, no more welfare, no more unemployment, no more injustice, no more Federal deficit, no more trade deficit, no more illiteracy, no more health care crisis, no more people dying needlessly. Most important of all, no more hate. Is that the point you are trying to make?

Artie,

You either misterpreted me, or more likely I did not make myself clear, that my 3,500 /2 figures are perspectives to make my point. The largest atrocity/genocide in World history has been through abortions @ 50 Million a year/1.6 Billion, all since "Roe".

I served in 'Nam and have and will support troops to whatever end. Your my age, how did you serve? We're killing ourselves from within. Obviously we have to win on all fronts.

IED, Improvised Explosive Device.
Not to be confused w/ IUD's.

I was in the last draft lottery for Vietnam, but pulled a high number. They stopped the draft during that year.

Since I am a conservative Christian, I registered as a C.O. I believe the Bible when it says "Thou shalt not kill"; because I believe Jesus' teachings, I oppose killing of ANY kind, including abortion and execution. The only exception I believe in would be to defend our country from a direct invasion. By extension, like practically everyone else I did not oppose the action in Afghanistan; had the U.S. made an adequate committment there, Afghanistan would not currently be dissolving into chaos.

And please don't flame me for saying I was a C.O. Carefully read the entire New Testament in a modern translation before you respond.

Can someone explain this to me, I am not sure I followed this right. What does IED stand for? And is this guy calling his friend a coward?

On the contrary....The opposition was using IEDs, which his friend said he thought was cowardly (as opposed to hand-to-hand combat). The IEDs result in a lot of casualties to our troops and civilians but require little manpower (and thus have a low risk of injury to their members) to use in an attack. This is how I understand the situation, Justmyopinion, and why there was so much concern over the quality of body armor that our troops were (and are) using.

To the family and friends of Sgt. Knier: You will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time in dealing with the loss of your loved one. I didn't know your son, but it's apparent from his accomplishments -- and the degree at which he held himself to high standards to earn those accomplishments -- that Tony was indeed a inspirational person with outstanding qualities. You have much to be proud of, and may his children live his legacy of living life to its fullest. God bless!
