Because Rick Santorum does not represent the Catholic Church in Congress, he represents 100's of thousands of PA women who depend on birth control for many different reasons including not having their life destroyed by an unplanned or risky pregnancy. He can practice any religion he wants in his own home but he better not try to force the rest of us into his beliefs. That is why religion should stay out of politics period. How many Catholics have died of AIDS in Africa because the chuirch is against condoms?

I did not say the govt should provide it although with all the chicks on welfare it might not be a bad idea to force women on welfare to use birth control so they can get back to work. I just think we should be careful that we do not elect someone who thinks birth control should become illegal. I don't think this will happen because we have a lot of women in congress but you have to be careful.

Did you actually READ what he has to say on the subject?

I didn't think so.

Or are you just doing a knee-jerk reaction to someone else's campaign smears? That's what it sounds like. The article made it pretty clear where he stands. Since when is it the government's responsibility to provide you and me with birth control? Huh?

the gummint should provide needy citizens with birth control to prevent unwanted pregancies, since the pro life crowd usually stops being pro life the moment the child is born.

funny how santorum is trying to distance himself from the dreaded bush.

such a lack of character.why doesn't he stand up and admit he supported bush almost 100% of the time instead of trying to fool the simpleminded?i mean rick supported the fiasco in iraq which everyone agrees was poorly planned and rushed because bush was lying thru his teeth and wanted to start the war before the public knew what hit them.and rick is pro life???gee how many iraqis have we slaughtered under bush and rick??? hundreds of thousands and this arsehole wants to pretend he really loves the lord??
hey rick ...being pro life means you don't start wars based on lies and you don't keep killing innocents when you realized that yer fearless leader mde a mistake.
santorum is a man of low character and big phoney talk.
apparently he doesn't understand the difference between right and wrong.

I wish the gov't would get out of the birth control issue completely, once and for all.
Declare roe v wade a done deal. Not provide birth control to anyone.

Then move on to important issues like terrorism, immigration, 8.5 trillion debt, the looming social security / medicare crisis.
Stuff that may determine our making it to 300 years as a country, instead of silly hot button issues like how adults make whoopie
