Sunday News editor Marv Adams has jumped off the deep end. His obsession to replace Dick Shellenberger and Molly Henderson with new County Commissioners who would raise taxes to support his pet project has clouded his editorial judgement.

Marv Adams' tirade against the current County Commissioners is motivated by nothing less than money. The current financing plan for the proposed convention center project cannot possibly be paid for with current and short-term anticipated "hotel tax" collections. There can be no doubt that a significant tax increase will be required to pay for $59 in borrowing plus even the anticipated operational losses. Marv Adams must know that the actual operating losses of the proposed convention center would be far more than the "pro forma" figures the LCCCA is currently using.

Marv Adams will settle for nothing less than County Commissioners who lack the moral resolve to adequately perform the duties that office requires. This is why Marv Adams has been attacking the current County Commissioners ever since he became editor of the Sunday News. Marv Adams' only goal is to convince his readers to elect officials who would willingly take more money from working people to line his own and his friends' pockets.

Note this for future reference: the current County Commissioners are being blasted for just about everything they say and do. If Marv Adams gets his way, watch how he just as blindly supports future County Commissioners for raising taxes in the name of "economic development".

It would not shock me to hear that Adams was being specially paid to write these rants against Dick and Molly.

Marv Adams has a lot of nerve commenting on a TalkBack thread when his own opinions are more than divisive.

The "worst in people and the worst people" were represented in this "opinion". Mr. Adams, your column and your opinions are much worse than anything that anyone on TalkBack could ever write. You've spewed more hatred against the commissioners than any one has spewed racism on TalkBack. Much of the general public cannot view TalkBack comments unlike your weekly rag.

You call what you write "journalism"?? What a crock of BS.

Good post. Peggy should have this guy fired. He's going to get them in a lot of trouble.

Like his colleague, Commissioner Shellenberger says the newspapers have not “objectively’’ explained his questioning of “the taxpayer’s liability’’ in the convention center-hotel project, because Lancaster Newspapers is involved.

Involved ?????
Give it up, please. It does sound prehistoric, doesn’t it ?

Marv is quite right. TalkBack has brought out some of the worst minds in Lancaster. It's also, however, brought out some very broad minds, who strive to always consider both sides of issues, who strive to be fair and who strive to 'say it like it is', but with some level of respect. TalkBack, indeed, has brought ALL sorts of minds to the table, to discuss, freely, any possible topic - as it should be. It's free thought and discussion that results in progress. Restricting free thought and discussion, well, we all know what that leads to.......

Talkback is enjoyable because of ALL the participants, whether I agree with them or not.
