The report also suggests the county revamp how officials hire administrators and requests that the state Legislature enact tougher laws prohibiting secret meetings by government officials
We're screwed! The grand jurists are sending us to the STATE for relief regarding secret meetings? So they say in their report, which was drafted in a secret meeting. (a cheap shot, unfortunely someone will read it and think this makes sense)
I'll admit to frowning when I read how Shellenberger solicited campaign contributions from Espenshade. But as I gave it more thought it occurred to me that the law firm got to do $300,000 in business whether or not they contributed anything. It's hard to perceive that as anything more than, "You've got plenty of money, you can afford a measly 20" on his way out the door. Perhaps if I imagined the same line with an sinister hiss.
I hope this paper and DA Tataro have a LITTLE energy left to pursue the LCCCA's lack of accountability to the public. I'm certainly noticing the imbalance.
