Glad someone else noticed the recent flux of new posters defending Vicki.

Is it a mere coincidence they are now feeling the sudden urge to defend her as some of Vicki's vocal critics are quoted in Portland's newspapers and Portland residents are reading Lancaster's Talkback? Hmmm

It appears the recent posters are no other than principals and administrators that were protected under Vicki's & Ric's administration. Probably the same ones that spoke out in LNP back a month or two ago.

actually i thought he was a democrat for the longest time. john barley, paul thibault etc are all republicans and he was after them. other than molly henderson i can't think of a democrat he went after. and what about clymer? he hates the republicans and harper is a big supporter of him.

From my knowledge of the man - we're friendly acquaintances in person and have sparred a bit on these boards - I'd say he's a Republican who feels the local party has strayed a bit from the (generally) small-government tenets that it (ideally) once espoused.

To my eyes, Ron is socially and economically conservative, and deeply feels that public officials have a core responsibility to be accountable for their words and deeds. I agree with him on two of those three points, and I imagine it's not hard to figure out where our disagreement lies. If his work here has brought him some measure of fame and fortune in Harrisburg, I say more power to him. I would imagine that after he did his part to bring down a major power player in the state house, other statewide officials would grant him a bit of wary respect.

Who knows, perhaps someone in Washington DC will put him to good use investigating federal corruption. He could be a "real pain in the arse" cleaning up DC politicians.

Independence costs money.

Harper is keeping his local activities and his research consulting jobs separate to reduce conflicts of interest. That's ethical and doesn't really look like a bribe or a payoff. You could imply that this was a reward for services rendered, but the evidence doesn't support that at all. More likely, he showed his skills and integrity to the party and they decided he can be a useful tool.

For the record, I'm not a Harper supporter. I'm just someone who thinks he's getting demonized slightly here unjustly.
